Book Shelves Retrospective展 開催のご案内
2025年8月6日（水）〜11日（月）、目黒区美術館 区民ギャラリーにて、写真家・薈田純一（わいだ・じゅんいち）による展覧会「Book Shelves Retrospective／書棚 ─
佇まいの彼方」を開催いたします。
作家、編集者、研究者、書店主など、多様な背景をもつ人々の書棚に焦点をあて、「本と人」「空間と記憶」の関係を見つめ直します。
書棚は、単なる収納ではなく、その人の時間や思考の痕跡が静かに佇む場所です。
江戸川乱歩、立花隆、李良枝、リービ英雄らの書棚のほか、古書店や図書館、別荘の棚など、多様な書棚の姿を紹介します。 新作には、養老孟司の昆虫標本棚、神楽坂の居酒屋「カド」の書棚、写真家・亀山亮の書棚を予定しています。 また、安部公房の書棚は、これまで断片的に紹介してきた写真を再構成し、全体像として展示します。

会期：2025年8月6日（水）〜11日（月）［無休］
時間：10:00〜18:00（最終入場 17:30）
※最終日11日（月）は15:00終了（最終入場 14:30）
会場：目黒区美術館 区民ギャラリー（東京都目黒区目黒2-4-36）
アクセス：JR・東急「目黒駅」より徒歩10分
入場料：一般 800円（税込）
中学生以下（保護者同伴）、障害者手帳をご提示の方と介助者1名、補助犬同伴の方は無料

【作家プロフィール】
薈田純一（Junichi Wajda）｜写真家
兵庫県神戸市生まれ。1980年代より仏通信社Gamma Presse
Imagesに所属し、報道写真家として活動。後にアート写真に転じ、「空間」「記憶」「視点の重なり」を主題に、人の気配や思索の層をとらえる作品を制作。
書棚シリーズでは、安部公房、立花隆、江戸川乱歩、李良枝、リービ英雄らの書棚を撮影。
著書に『The Creation of Place or Gardens of Sesshu』（ビーコンヒル出版、2023）ほか。
中央公論新社『松岡正剛の書棚』（2010）、『立花隆の書棚』（2013）、『アイデア』No.379（誠文堂新光社）では写真を担当。

Overview
From August 6 to 11, 2025, photographer Junichi Wajda will present a solo exhibition titled Book Shelves Retrospective — Beyond Presence at the Civic Gallery of the Meguro Museum of Art, Tokyo.
This photography exhibition explores the relationships between people, books, space, and memory by focusing on the bookshelves of writers, editors, scholars, and booksellers from diverse
backgrounds.
Bookshelves are more than places to store books—they quietly preserve the traces of time and thought.
The exhibition includes bookshelves belonging to figures such as Edogawa Ranpo, Takashi Tachibana, Yi Yang-ji, and Hideo Levy, as well as institutional
collections from antiquarian bookstores, libraries, and private retreats.
New works will feature the insect specimen shelves of Dr. Takeshi Yoro, the bookshelf of the izakaya “Kado” in Kagurazaka, and the bookshelf of photojournalist Ryo Kameyama.
Photographs of Kobo Abe’s bookshelf, previously shown only in fragments, will be exhibited here in a newly reconstructed, complete form.

Admission: ¥800 (tax
included)
Free admission for junior high school students and younger (accompanied by adult),
persons with disabilities and one caregiver, and those accompanied by guide dogs.
The exhibition is currently being prepared with support through crowdfunding.

About the Artist
Junichi Wajda is a photographer born in
Kobe, Japan.
In the 1980s, he worked as a photojournalist for Gamma Presse Images (France), later shifting to art photography. His work explores spatial perception, memory, and the layering of perspectives to
reveal quiet traces of human presence and thought.
His bookshelf photography includes those of Kobo Abe, Takashi Tachibana, Edogawa Ranpo, Yi Yang-ji, and Hideo Levy.
His publications include The Creation of Place or Gardens of Sesshu (Beaconhill Publishers, 2023), and his photographs have appeared in The Bookshelves of Seigow Matsuoka (Chuo
Koron Shinsha, 2010), The Bookshelves of Takashi Tachibana (2013), and IDEA No. 379 (Seibundo Shinkosha).
